Some Frequently Asked Questions by New Residents...
1. What was that "boom" noise? Yes, folks, there is an active limestone quarry right here in our own back yard. In fact, this quarry is located within our city limits and is partly overseen by our own Garden Ridge Quarry Commission.
2. Where is the nearest post office? While we don't currently have an official USPO post office, we do have postal services available at the Acres of Diamonds gift shop, located at 18820 FM 2252 near Bracken. A new postal facility has opened in Schertz near the intersection of IH35 and 3009.
3. What are underground springs? Underground springs are natural artesian water flows that we experience sometimes for months after heavy rains. They also wreck havoc on septic systems!
4. Where can I make new friends and acquaintances? Garden Ridge operates more as a community than a suburban development. As such, the community offers wonderful opportunities to make new friends and develop lasting relationships. For women, there is the Garden Ridge Women's Club, MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers) at Northeast Bible Church , the Republican Women's Club,
For the guys, there is the Garden Ridge-Bracken Lions Club which is truly an institution in the area. Also, consider the Bracken Bowling Club and the Garden Ridge Men's Fellowship, an interdenominational morning bible study.
